one day a few months ago i was at home minding my own business and warming up a strawberry pop tart in my toaster when the toaster did the "pop" thing. you know, when it shoots your toast {or pop tart} out? anyway, it did the "pop" thing only my pop tart didn't pop up. so i pushed the little lever back down and manually popped it back up and still no pop tart popping. enter serious concern for a) my pop tart and b) my toaster.
i know the toaster trick though so i unplugged it and used a fork to try to pull it out. the only problem with this clever solution was that my pop tart was a hot mess {story of my life} and when i touched it with the fork it broke into a million pieces and instantly coated the inside of my toaster with strawberry flavored magma. this is when i went from concerned to panicked.
so i turned to yahoo answers like i always do. i typed in something along the lines of, "my pop tart broke in my toaster and there is red goop all over the inside of my toaster now. how can i clean out the inside of my toaster?" someone else had asked a similar question {my lost bff/soul mate?} which had been answered so i took a look. unfortunately, the top voted answer they received was, "pour a bath. get in the bath with your toaster. plug it in. problem solved." i obviously did NOT do that. instead i let my toaster cool then used an old toothbrush to try to clean it. which didn't work.
so our toaster has been broken for months. like, immediate thick black smoke every time we have attempted to use it because i literally broke my toaster with a pop tart.
...BUT recently a hopeful mr. dtf put a bagel in that toaster one last time and a miracle occurred. and that bagel was toasted in that toaster with no problems whatsoever.
moral of the story:
1. don't take your toaster for granted.
2. exercise caution when toasting pop tarts.
that is all.
love,
mrs. dtf
LOL this is hilarious and cute! i can totally relate...ive grabbed pop tarts and had them break and drop back in...so frustrating!!

ReplyDeleteBAHAHAHA. that was awesome. Luckily for me, I don't post my pop tarts! :)
ReplyDeletei definitely have problems with getting things out of the toaster. the last toaster i had had this little prong thing that helped me to get the toast out. definitely missing those prongs. lol.

I would have broken down and gotten a new toaster. not enough faith in these bones for waiting. I'm an instant gratification sort of girly.
