the unattainable alignment

sometimes your car needs an alignment pretty badly. and you don't take care of it for a long long time and your right front tire is dangerously bald. so you finally decide to just go get it taken care of. well, that's what i thought i was gonna do yesterday after my less-than-cheery trip to the dentist. so i drove to les schwab and asked for an alignment and the guy told me they could do it in two and a half hours.

well obviously i didn't intend to sit at les schwab for two and a half hours just to wait for my hour long alignment so i asked if he could call the other les schwabs in the area to see if they could take me sooner or even later if they were closer to home where i could eat lunch, watch t.v., blog, etc. while i waited. the guy acted TOTALLY annoyed and when he called the other stores he kept saying in this rude snobby voice, "yeah, well she wants it done BEFORE two o'clock." and i wanted to scream in his ear NOT NECESSARILY. because he obviously didn't listen to me.

anyway he finishes calling everyone and says no one has anything before two and i tell him fine, but will he please direct me to the closest les schwab to where i live so i can get the alignment done somewhere more convenient. and he makes yet another fuss about it and finally tells me which location is best. so i head over to THAT location and the guy says it will be a one hour wait. i decided that was my best option and killed some time by grabbing lunch at baja fresh {does anyone else have a severe addiction to their black salsa? cause i find it to be quite incredible.} and then making a quick stop by target for a new book and caving in and getting starbucks as well. i had a long wait ahead of me still! and i deserved it! kinda.

so i drove back to les schwab with my book and my starbucks and i was content to sit for an hour and wait for my alignment. and i did. i waited, and i read, and i drank my drink. and after nearly an hour a man called my name {and i'm thinking, wahoo! it's over!} and i went over to pay. but the thing is, i didn't have to pay. because apparently they didn't do ANYTHING. something about our tie rods needing to be replaced first. so mr. dtf is getting all handy and researching how to replace tie rods because the quote they gave us was RIDICULOUS and mr. dtf can fix just about anything on our trusty volvo. i went and picked up all the parts he needs and hopefully it will be all fixed and ready for an alignment NEXT week. and they better not make me wait an hour for nothing again. cause i don't think i can take anymore of this les schwab drama.

mrs. dtf

p.s. mr. dtf and i are headed to utah tonight and i won't be posting until next week. just a heads up so you don't think i don't love you anymore. cause i do. i love you guys. enjoy your weekend!

happenings of today

the other day i was talking to my mom on the phone and she had this great idea that i should go for a little dental check up. so i researched dentists in the area and found two that got great ratings. i went to both websites and perused a little before choosing one completely at random. so then i got to call and make an appointment and talk insurance with a receptionist for like 20 minutes only to find out i need to call my mom for more information because they can't look up our policy with what i've told her. so i try calling my mom about a million times, finally get a hold of my dad, and find out that she is at my sister's ortho appointment. so i call my sister's phone and after a brief chat with her i finally got to speak with my mom {whose phone had apparently died}. and i get a little more information and call back the dental office of my choosing ready to get this taken care of when the lady tells me they were able to look up my policy after all. this is funny, right?

so today i had my appointment. and found out that the office that i thought was nearby was actually a thirty minute drive from here {same city, but DEFINITELY not a close distance. curse my lack of google mapping it BEFORE the lengthy appointment making phone call.} AND i got on a wrong freeway and got totally lost getting there. i even had to call and ask for directions like a big loser ha. i finally made it there fifteen minutes late and after filling out some paper work i got my teeth cleaned and x-rays taken and felt like a champ. now i just had to wait for the dentist to come look everything over and send me on my way.

but when the dentist came in he did NOT simply send me on my way. instead he informed me that i have not one, but two cavities! and i say, wait seriously? and he goes, uh yeah. and there's two other teeth they wanna "keep an eye on." well, let me tell you, i am gonna be brushing the crap out of my teeth for the next few weeks and when i go back for my fillings they are gonna tell me those two other teeth look GREAT. i hope. and if not...

i hope your week is going a bit better than mine, but if not, just remember what they said in high school musical, "we're all in this together." WOW I'M COOL.

fat fantasies

it took me about four seconds from writing that title that i realized it could be misconstrued. so i will clarify. i am fantasizing about the ice cream sandwich i had on saturday. a classic chocolate chip cookie/vanilla bean ice cream combo from a lovely little place called ruby jewel scoops.

mama hungry.

by the way, if any of you know any gems like this one in the portland area PLEASE let me know! i want to see the sights! and eat the foods! oh, the foods. also, i wanna hear about your three day weekend because i'm one part nosy, two parts bored. kcoolthanks.

a monday morning mini heart attack

last night i had the worst nightmare i've had in months. i'm talking about a "tossing and turning, palms sweating, wake you up with heart palpitations" nightmare. in this nightmare i was surrounded by some of my old friends from high school in a classroom. no big deal. but then i realized that tests were being handed out and my friends were getting out their pencils and scratch paper. this is when i started to worry. then i looked up at the board and realized i was in a calculus class. and yeah, when i was in high school i took my share of calculus tests and did just fine on them, but this was not high school me. this was NOW me. and now me has forgotten every single bit of calculus and pretty much anything math-related in general. so by now i was panicking. and i tried to play it all cool to my buddies, like, guys i haven't done a single assignment all year and i barely went to class and i didn't even know about this test, but i don't care. but on the inside i was more like, this is the worst day of my life. and i frantically tried to look up sin x and graphing functions and such in my book before a test got to my desk. and then i woke up. so tell me, do these dreams ever go away? any of you done with school for good and still have "unprepared for school" dreams? cause i hate them. and i need to know.

oh, and happy monday/memorial day. mr. dtf and i are going all out this year and getting burgers at red robin because that seems like a pretty american thing to do. what are you guys doing to celebrate?

the latest and greatest

because a family of nine isn't big enough my oldest brother got married and had three kids, then i got married, and we even decided to have another wedding just recently because we needed another jones stat. chelsea is adorable and hilarious and we are so lucky to have her as part of our family. plus, she was a stunning bride and her wedding was to die for. take a look!

welcome to the family, chelsea
and congratulations to you and jakey boy!

man, i love weddings and i can't wait for my OTHER brother's wedding in june when our favorite little redhead, anna, becomes part of the jones clan. we've never had a real redhead before so it's pretty exciting.

practice makes perfect

so i've never really understood the whole rehearsal dinner thing. i mean really, what needs rehearsing? the groom says i do, the bride says i do, and nothing else really matters amirite? but hey, when my mom wants to put up some twinkle lights, put some flowers on some tables, and call up cafe rio to cater... i am ALL for the rehearsal dinner thing. and who doesn't love a cute slideshow full of baby pictures? besides, it all just meant more time with my lovely family who i already miss very much.

sorry if you think these posts are boring, but tomorrow is the last one {until the end of june when i have a whole other wedding weekend to share with you...} so suck it up!

love,
mrs. dtf

p.s. thank you for putting up with me. i enjoy reminiscing.
p.p.s. i finally got a much needed trim and my front bangs are back and ready for action! whatever that means.
